Huntington’s Youth Forum

This annual event is a multi faceted day of learning for both science teachers and Year 10 students. They get the opportunity to delve deeper into the science, ethics, career pathways and the real human stories of those living with Huntington’s disease in this popular and immersive event.

Huntington’s WA in collaboration with the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research hold this highly successful annual event for young people all over WA.

Seventy Year 10 students and their science teachers from a mix of schools attend this event which is aimed and educating staff and students about Huntington’s disease.

Students get a chance to try genetic testing in world class lab facility, to discuss the ethics behind the disease, to hear stories from people living with Huntington’s disease and to hear from PhD students about career pathways and their journeys in the crime of science.

Teachers join their students in some sessions, tour Perkins facility and hear about the science and latest research updates from researchers working in the Huntington’s field.
