Ballarat Libraries will collaborate with local community organisation Food is Fee Inc. to host all ages workshops A Garden in a Jar. There will be two sessions, held over the weekend of 20-21 August at two library branch locations.
At this workshop, participants will use recycled glass containers (bottles, jars) to create a take home terrarium, planted with herbs or ferns.
This will support the National Science Week theme of Glass: More than meets the eye by providing information on the science of glass production and demonstrating the positive environmental benefits of reducing waste by reusing a common household product, such as glass containers. It will also introduce the concepts of food waste, environment, composting and worm farming. It will be a hands-on learning opportunity appropriate for all ages.
