Students in Year 5 and 6 at Park Ridge Primary School are working on Think Tank Projects to present at a Think Tank Expo in National Science Week. These projects are focussed on innovations in current and future industries. They need to come with an idea, work out the science, technology, and design elements, and present them at the Expo.
Because of the science fiction nature of this task, a collaboration with the Year 6 artists has occurred in form on front covers. Artists have the opportunity to draw front covers (just art, no title) and then the Think Tank Project students choose their title page. They choose a title for their project. The Think Tank project students are listed as the authors and the illustrators name goes on the title page also. These will be printed (a copy for the project creators and one for the artists) as a keepsake but also as part of their presentation on the day of the Expo.
For the Expo we have 3 judges come and choose the most innovative ideas based on a set of criteria. Different businesses have donated prizes for this Expo and the judges will decide who gets these. Parents and community members are allowed to come and see the presentations on the day, and we have organised a photographer to take pictures of the students with their projects.
All students who participate in the Expo will receive a certificate, their level of effort will decide what type of certificate - participation, credit, distinction or high distinction.
