The Handicraft Committee of The South Australian Country Women's Association Inc. is running an e-textiles workshop in National Science Week.
Presentations and assistance to the participants will be provided by SACWA members and Handicraft members in particular. The objective of the workshop is to show participants how to combine the technologies of LED lights and batteries with the traditional handicraft skills of hand sewing and embroidery.
Detailed printed instructions and pictures will be provided, with all the supplies needed to complete a project packaged into a kit. For example:
- a Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer ornament made with cut out felt shapes, hand sewn together and softly stuffed. His red nose being an LED light, of course;
- a hand sewn felt Christmas tree ornament, topped with a glittering LED star.;
- an embroidered constellation on dark blue fabric, with LED lights as the stars. The embroidery hoop becomes a frame for the finished project.

Parking is available at the venue and in the street. It is wheelchair accessible with a lift to first floor but there is no disabled toilet facility in the building. Light refreshments will be served.
