Science Space is celebrating National Science Week with an evening of astronomy. Out of this World will; take you on a journey through our planetarium and hands on engagement as you explore all things Astronomical.
The Science Space gardens will have the Illawarra Astronomical Society will set up to enable our visitors to view through the telescopes and learn how to get into astronomy.
Science Space Observatory – the facility is lucky enough to own a 400mm DFM research telescope and therefore the event will provide an opportunity to drive the telescope and observe the wonders of our Solar System in real time.
We shall showcase the digitally immersive planetarium and welcome our guest presenter, Dr Helen Maynard-Casely who will take the audience on an engaging and interactive exploration of our Solar System as she visits some of her favourite moons, planets and explains why they are so special. During the feature she will highlight and showcase Australia’s work in the space research field.
You can also take the chance to explore Science Space after dark. With two floors of hands-on interactive exhibits families will be further inspired to explore all aspects of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
And there's an opportunity to also dress up as an astronaut or a science fiction character while engaging in a range of activities.
