Science @ Central

225 Beardy Street, Armidale NSW 2350, Australia

The UNE Discovery team will host a special Science @ Central event on Saturday 19 August.

Come along to the Armidale Central Shopping Centre and find our UNE Discovery pop-up science stall. You'll be able to chat with scientists and science educators and ask lots of interesting questions while you look, touch and play with a variety of specimens and artefacts that relate to geology (rocks and fossils), palaeontology, ecology and physics. We'll also have our 3D landscape models of the local area, some of our favourite insects and marine animals preserved in resin, as well as animal skulls and small taxidermized animal specimens.

You'll be able to view these through our microscopes to see things up close and personal. We'll also have sound related physics gadgets such as tuning forks, slinkies, and air particle models.

For our very young visitors, we'll host two science craft sessions at 10:30am and 11:30am, where we will have a hands-on maker-space area for kids to be creative and make a take home science craft.

We will also host three sessions of our brand new Magic of Physics show (1:30pm, 2:30pm & 3:30pm) where we will create moments of wonder with awe inspiring displays that defy intuition. This show would include demonstrations featuring the properties of magnets, air pressure and sound waves.
