The Royal Society Show Case Science aims to celebrate and promote to the public the diverse research members undertake to advance knowledge in SA. The event will:

  • Show examples of cutting-edge and impactful research,
  • Make a Case for science in our society, and
  • Have a dialogue on the future of Science in SA.

The format will be a combination of live, high-energy 3-minute lightning talks presenting research, arguments for why we need science, followed by question time and a panel debate, and opportunities for informal exchanges between scientists and the public.

The lightning talks will be on a variety of natural science disciplines.

The event will be led by an MC and will be live-tweeted. There will also be prizes awarded for Best Talk and the Best Argument, with attendees to vote for their favourites, to further encourage engagement.

Attendance can be in-person **BOOKED OUT and also live-streamed online to reach a broader audience.

Light refreshments will be provided. We have made our best attempt to cover most dietary restrictions. If you have any serious allergies please notify the catering staff. Please note this is an 18+ event as alcohol will be served.

COVID-19 safety requirements will be strictly adhered with ticketed in-person attendance to a safe capacity (using Eventbrite booking), QR-code scanning, having hand-washing facilities and hand-sanitiser available, and adhering to 1.5m social distancing.

Pacific Cultures Gallery, Level 1. Wheelchair accessible - lift located in the Eastern foyer. Some free after hours parking on Kintore Ave or Victoria Drive, otherwise paid parking at Wilson carparks.
