Our Fruit and Veggie-verse

  • -
  • -

Write a poem that has something to do with FRUITS and/or VEGETABLES: it could be about how you enjoy eating a certain fruit or vegetable:

  • its colour, texture, taste and beauty;
  • how it is linked to culture, traditions or dishes you enjoy;
  • how to care, store and not waste them;
  • how, when and where they grow.

Your poem can be anything that’s fruit or vegetable-related.

The Science Rhymes website will display a collection of your rhyming verse poems about OUR FRUIT & VEGGIE-VERSE in National Science Week as well as science discoveries that have captured our imagination.

Your poem may include names from a plant’s anatomy and how we depend on photosynthesis to provide us with food. Could eating certain fruits be dangerous?  How can we better use and appreciate our fruit and vegetable resources? Or simply poetically share how good or bad they are!

Science Rhymes have a free PDF download to help you on your way.

Poems are to be submitted by email. Include your poem, title & your name, plus your town, school name and an adult name & email address (where appropriate). Email your submissions of 1 to 5 verses by Friday 30 July.

Published poems by children will be acknowledged by first name only (and school name where appropriate).
