Midlands Biodiversity Hot Spot Field Day

Hobart participants can join a ticketed bus trip starting with an orientation and plant pick-up at NIpaluna Nursery. 

Participants will travel from Hobart to the Tasmanian Midlands- stopping at the Species Hotels at Ross. Here they will be joined by participants from the North and local areas.

Lead scientists, educators and farmers from Beaufront and Lewisham properties will showcase research, ecological management and restoration initiatives over the last 15 years. This will include innovative techniques in revegetation including tree genetics under a changing climate, enhancing the structural complexity of the vegetation and the rebuilding of connections through education. 

Lunch will be shared at Lewisham followed by a practical planting of native species at a prepared shelter-belt site at Lewisham. 

There will be an official hand over ceremony of native understorey plants and trees from Nipaluna Nursery that have been grown from local provenance seed with support from Hobart City High and New Town Primary Schools.

Meet at Nipaluna Nursery. Bus will proceed to Ross for 11:00 meeting at Species Hotel.
