Kick off National Science Week with a bang! We are holding LIFT OFF! at Wallsend Library on Sunday 13 August from 11am - 2.30pm, and it's free for everyone.

Science Shows

Start the day with one of two incredible Balloons and Bubbles science shows from the University of Newcastle SMART team (11am or 12.30pm). Suitable for all ages. Book your tickets online.

Show demonstrations include:

• liquid nitrogen
• giant bubbles
• toroidal vortex (air cannon)
• elephant's toothpaste
• rocket science

The Main Event – Free Lunch

A free drop-in pizza lunch from 12pm – 2pm where you can meet real scientists, ask them all your burning science questions, or maybe chat to them about how they became a scientist. 

We will have a wide range of scientists including biologists, food scientists, environmental scientists and more – check back closer to the date for a list of scientists. 

Suitable for all ages but especially suitable for high school students wanting to ask about career options or primary school students who love to ask questions – these scientists have all the answers.
