For this year’s National Science Week, the Gardens celebrates the return of our interactive exhibition How Plants Work. In recent years students have been forced to learn in a virtual world. This exhibition offers a return to hands-on learning.

All life on earth depends on plants. Using simple observations and experiments, visitors can gain fascinating insights into how it all happens.

Explainers are on hand to encourage visitors to explore the expedition and assist with experiments.

Topics include:

  • How plants make food and oxygen from sunlight
  • How plants use insects and animals to reproduce
  • Seeds and how they grow
  • Soils and how plants use them
  • Plants and fungi
