Perhaps the most exciting area of medical research is into how the micro-organisms in our guts can improve our health, or cause all kinds of unfortunate problems. The microbiome is the rich inner ecosystem of micro-organisms inside each of us. Science is revealing the ways in which the microbiome may hold the keys to better human health, and even allow us have more positive mood.
PhD candidates Tina Yan and Jo Rees from Edith Cowan University’s School of Medical and Health Sciences are experts in the interaction between nutrition and the microbiome. In this special presentation they will reveal the ways in which the food we eat can cultivate the microbiome for the benefit of our own health and happiness.
