Glass: More than meets the eye festival

  • - (AWST)
  • Victoria Park Community Centre
248 Gloucester Street, East Victoria Park WA 6101, Australia

This National Science Week join us for a family friendly day of discovery, art, and play.

Observe our closest star with a purpose-build solar telescope, jump into Curtin Universities pop-up science lab and take part in hands-on experiments including think: lab coats, lenses, lasers and more.

Make your own Pate de Verre glass bowl with Denise Pepper, speak to scientists and astrophysicists at the Astro 3D stall.

Help build a giant marble run, hear about how artists make with glass and take a look at their wares.

Create a baby image of the universe when the first stars and galaxies formed, try your hand at a big ol’ game of marbles...

Enjoy the mat + veggie BBQ and learn about the many ways this wondrous material shapes our world.

Tickets essential. Please choose the time/number of tickets that suits you in the 'add on' option when registering for the main festival tickets.

All festival activities included with the exception of the 'Pate de Verre' glass bowl workshops: these run at 11.00am and 1.00pm and cost $20 per person to cover materials. This activity is suitable for ages 12+.

Refreshments available for a small cash donation.

All children must be supervised.

You can see a video of the 'Pate de Verre' technique here
