the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples is 9 August 2023.

To celebrate, Engineers Australia welcomes two speakers in a sharing of knowledge between the old ways of burning and the new, the synergies and opportunities, and in the event of increasing unexpected bushfires as our climate heats, how to be prepared.

Mark Anderson, Director from the Foundation for Indigenous Sustainable Health​ (FISH) and Bradley Santos, Team Lead Fire, Heatwave and Air Quality Severe Weather EPS, Community Services Group from the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) will present on First Nations culture and artwork and how it connects to the Australian Fire Danger Rating System (AFDRS) and offer us an opportunity to be part of a discussion on how to connect and care for each other and for country in the event of increasing unexpected bushfires as our climate heats.
