Ending Overfishing: Virtual Classroom with Marine Scientists

  • -

What is a fish? What does the marine food web look like? And what is the impact of overfishing on the ocean ecosystem?

In this virtual lesson to celebrate National Science Week students will learn about fish adaptations, the marine food web, and why Ending Overfishing is essential for the future of our big blue ocean.

Join the Marine Stewardship Council in the launch of our new education program Saltwater Schools.

We will be joined by marine scientist and former presenter of Channel 7’s Get Clever’ Laura Wells, shark biologist from the MSC Dr Adrian Gutteridge, and sustainable fishing expert teacher Mark Dunn in a special livestream session for the classroom.

This lesson is designed for school students age 10-12+. Suitable for students in Science and Geography.

During this lesson students will test their knowledge in a ‘Sustainable Oceans’ quiz and have the opportunity to win an annual subscription to National Geographic Kids magazine.

Prior to joining this event we recommend that all participants watch the short film My Dad the Fisherman (15:00), a story about sustainable fishing filmed in the South of France.

Register for this event on Zoom.
