Big Science Adventure

  • Capricorn Caves
30 Olsen's Caves Road, The Caves QLD 4702, Australia

Come and celebrate National Science Week at Capricorn Caves on Saturday 20 & Sunday 21 August.

All your favourite cave adventures over one weekend, and more.

Sunday is jam-packed with activities. Harness up and try our eight metre climbing wall, grab a head torch and explore the cave chambers and tunnels, or take it easy and learn about the ancient reef that formed our cave on a Cathedral Cave tour.

Join our local palaeontology experts to unearth megafauna era fossils, looking at them closely under a magnifying glass. Meet Malachi from Rocky Instincts at his cutting edge fire workshop. Check out a variety of nature displays and activities from FBA, CQU, Shell World and more.

Of course, the day would not be complete without face painting and bat craft especially for the kids. There will be a lunch time sausage sizzle supporting the Rural Fire Brigade, or purchase fresh sandwiches, cakes and coffees on site.

This weekend event includes both free and paid experiences. The Saturday Night Food Package and all cave tours and workshops must be pre-booked through the Capricorn Caves website. Free parking is available, but please follow directions from staff on arrival.

Note: Saturday night activities are listed as a separate event on this website.
