Antarctic Futures is an exhibition, public seminar series and set of participatory workshops engaging the Illawarra community in Antarctic science and the future of the Antarctic continent.

Supported by Inspiring Australia, the University of Wollongong Early Start and Global Challenges programs, the event aims to equip young ‘citizen science’ activists with knowledge of Antarctic ecosystems, how Antarctica affects the global climate and how climate change is affecting Antarctica. The event will spark curiosity and inspire problem-solving creativity; bringing artistic and scientific practices and perspectives together to explore some of the major challenges facing the Earth today.

This exhibition will be fun for the whole family, with workshops for children and teenagers including hands-on scientific and artistic activities run by real scientists and artists with Antarctic experience. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to the show, as scientific and artistic work produced in these workshops can be incorporated in the exhibition. Alongside these activities there will be a range of seminars for interested members of the Illawarra public.

Some workshops require paid entry to the Early Start Discovery Space.
