Amazing Spider Crabs of Nairm Tour Launch

  • - (AEST)

Every winter, in the heart of Port Phillip Bay and parts of the Great Southern Reef, a truly amazing natural phenomenon takes place: the gathering of thousands and thousands of great spider crabs.

Snorkellers and divers from around Australia brave frigid winter waters to catch a glimpse of this world-famous spectacle.

Yet, despite global attention, the aggregation is still shrouded in mystery.

Now, you can experience the event from the comfort of home, without getting wet, and help scientists unravel the mystery of this annual phenomenon.

Tune in for the launch of Remember The Wild's new 360° underwater virtual tour Amazing Spider Crabs of Nairm and you will:

  • be treated to a guided tour;
  • meet the creators;
  • find out how scientists are studying the aggregation to protect the crabs in their most vulnerable moments;
  • learn how YOU can help unravel the mystery; and,
  • find out how you could win great prizes in our art competition and spider crab survey.

Join us on Tuesday 16 August at 7:30 PM AEST.

This event is being held in partnership with Dr Elodie Camprasse from Deakin University and the team at the Victorian National Parks Association.
