Monkey Mia is famous for the pod of dolphins that have come to shore each day to be fed for the past 50 years.

The Visitors Centre has displays about the dolphins and other wildlife, a theatrette and there are staff on hand to answer questions.

Dolphin feeding occurs each day and some visitors are lucky enough to be chosen by the rangers to hold the small fish for the dolphins to eat. Dolphins first began interacting with humans here in the 1960s. Park staff are careful to provide only a small fraction of the dolphin’s diet.

Monkey Mia is located on Shark Bay, which is home to around 10 000 dugongs as well the stromatolites of Hamelin Pool.

Accommodation is available at Monkey Mia or in the nearby town of Denham. Park entry fees apply.
