The Volcanoes Discovery Centre in Penshurst is located at the foot of the monogenetic Mt Rouse volcano.

At the Volcanoes Discovery Centre visitors will discover how volcanoes are formed, their geology, their history in the Western District, a video simulation of Mt Rouse erupting, the interaction of the Koorie people with volcanoes and a section for school children.

The Volcanoes Discovery Centre is open every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 11 am – 3 pm and Saturday and Sunday 10 am – 4 pm and every day during Victorian school holidays 11 am – 3 pm. The centre is closed Good Friday, 25 April and 25-26 December.
