Community Opening of Canberra’s Recycling Facility

Re.Group and the ACT Government invites the community to experience the recycling plant in action, ask questions, and join the celebration with food and drinks available. The official opening is at 12:30 pm. Or you can arrive at 1:00 pm and see all the action.

You’re invited to attend the official opening of the upgraded Materials Recovery Facility in Hume, ACT. This is a great opportunity to find out about the new technology and machinery that helps sort, bale and process your recycling!

A free ACTION Bus will leave Canberra City interchange, Plaftorm 10 at 12:30 pm. The bus will drop ACT residents off at the Hume site, then transport back to the city at 2:30 pm, or you can drive to the site. Consider car-pooling with your friends, and you can park at the site by following the Open Day parking signs.

  • You will learn more about the ACT Government’s waste and recovery targets and where to dispose of products;
  • You will learn about product life-cycles (for glass, paper, plastics and metals)View leading edge technology via the television tours;
  • View state of the art sorting equipment and understand how the technology works!
  • View the whole site via a drone film.
