Do you have the Da Vinci Genome? Celebrate National Science Week 2019 with the Northern Sydney Science Hub by linking science and your artistic expression. Northern Sydney (anywhere north of the bridge) artists and all members of the community are invited to enter our online art competition and exhibition!

Open up your inner cosmos, and bring into being artworks that reflect the National Science Week theme of Destination Moon: More missions, More science. Entries open 25 May 2019. Our Science Week art competition will take place in two stages and will include several venues throughout Northern Sydney during the first week of August 2019.

Local heat events will take place in Chatswood, Ryde and Gordon libraries. Each event will be a showcase of art and science and judges will award finalists in all our age categories. The stage one finalists will have their artwork displayed on our NSSH website and social media sites, and be promoted live at the exhibition finale.

Finalists from the heats will receive a certificate and NSSH prize pack and will then compete for our amazing finals prizes. The selected finalists from each of our stage one heats will progress through to the open exhibitions final at CSIRO/NMI on Saturday 17 August. This will be an afternoon of fun for all the family, with science shows and displays and of course the great art exhibition!

Finals winners will be announced at the live exhibition on Saturday 17 August and prizes will be awarded accordingly. Chief Scientist for CSIRO, Cathy Foley and artist Sid Sledge will be two of our prolific judges. Sid will be demonstrating and exhibiting some of is own fantastic creations which straddle the edge between Art and Science. Check out his fabulous website for inspiration.
