Explore light, from nanoscale biophotonics with Dr Roman Kostecki, research fellow at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Nanoscale BioPhotonics; to exploring the Universe with Dr Jerry Madakbas, a photonics physicist who builds night vision sensors for NASA.

The hidden science of light will also be revealed by Miroslav Kostecki, Technical Manager at the STEMSEL Foundation, in live and interactive demonstrations. The highlight will be inviting the audience to control large colour light ribbons on stage via their mobile phones using WiFi, and using their phone cameras to see IR light. Then images will be sent to Google to process and receive Artificial Intelligence results in real time.

The event will end with the engaging activity of Many Hands Make Light Work to recognise the significance of advancing science in achieving zero net carbon to protect the planet.
