Two children exploring the Forest GalleryMelbourne Museum offers a rich insight into Victoria’s fascinating natural environment, culture and history. Using state-of-the-art technology and interpretative techniques, the museum’s eight galleries cover the natural and physical sciences, history and technology, and Indigenous cultures in new and captivating ways.

Melbourne Museum is home to the Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre, empowering Aboriginal people to interpret their own cultural heritage.

Permanent galleries include the Melbourne Gallery, Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre, Science and Life Gallery, Mind and Body Gallery, the Forest Gallery and the Children’s Gallery.

The Museum is located on the northern edge of Melbourne’s central business district within Carlton Gardens on Nicholson Street. This picturesque and versatile parkland location also features the World Heritage listed Royal Exhibition Building, which sits directly opposite the Museum, and is the largest item in Museum Victoria’s collection.

The Museum is open from 10.00 am - 5.00 pm daily (closed Christmas Day and Good Friday). Adult admisson fees apply, children's entry is free.
